  Flers

The Smith family Peter, Hilary, Mathew and Becci would like to extend to you a warm welcome at our 1920’s farm house situated in the historic village of Flers, the first village to be liberated with the aid of Tanks.

After a long search for a suitable property we arrived in France in the summer of 2004. Our aim had always been to open a bed & breakfast catering for the general and battlefield tourist, but also to tailor tours for genealogists and people with specific interests, and in this house with its views across the battlefields to High Wood and Delville Wood we found just what we had been looking for.

Matthew and Becci have settled well into French school life and our language skills are improving daily. We have collected, researched and written about the Great War for many years. To reflect our long-standing interest, the house is suitably furnished with a plethora of artefacts culled from our collections. A large book and photographic library is available for research during your stay.

I am a member of The Western Front Association, Orders & Medals Research Society and The British Commission For Military History. Mathew will be pleased to show you around our developing private museum and we always have a small range of souvenirs to purchase.

We are happy to ferry guests to and from the well known "Le Tommy" café/bar located at Poziers, which is 10 mins away, or to the local bar in Longueval, "Calypso".

A variety of tours can be booked to enhance your stay and we would welcome the opportunity to discuss your requirements prior to your arrival.

A warm welcome awaits whatever the weather.

Peter & Hilary Smith
